Explanation of the Dua After Eating
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ وَعَلَي بَرْ كَةِ اللَّهِ
In the name of Allah, and upon the blessings of Allah
الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَطْعَمَنَا وَسَقَانَا وَجَعَلَنَا مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ
All praise belongs to Allah, who give us food and drink, and made us Muslims

Context from the Life of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH): The dua “بِسْمِ اللَّهِ وَعَلَى بَرْكَةِ اللَّهِ” (In the name of Allah, and upon the blessings of Allah) and “الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَطْعَمَنَا وَسَقَانَا وَجَعَلَنَا مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ” (All praise belongs to Allah, who gave us food and drink, and made us Muslims) reflects the Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) teachings on gratitude and remembrance. The Prophet (PBUH) emphasized that eating is a blessing and should be accompanied by gratitude to Allah. - Arabic: “مَنْ أَكَلَ طَعَامًا فَقَالَ: اللّهُمّ بَارِكْ لَنَا فِيهِ وَأَطْعِمْنَا خَيْرًا مِنْهُ وَغَفَرْتَ لَنَا”
- Transliteration: “Man akala ta‘aman faqala: Allahumma barik lana feehi wa at‘imna khayran minhu wa ghafarta lana.”
- Translation: “Whoever eats food and says: O Allah, bless us in it, and provide us with something better than it, and forgive us.”
